Love this place great food and great staff
So we ordered our meal then went to the movie returned and enjoyed our meal. Had a little sneak peek at outdoor cinema thru restaurant window. Lovely meal... waiter very well done
Good food. Absolutely diabolical service, or lack thereof. Monday night..6 tables taken. If we had got the other waitress wed have been fine. She was an attentive pocket rocket. However, we got the Sloth and sat in front of our empty plates for over 20 minutes while she polished glasses and chatted. How I would have loved a dessert but clearly wasting time on the teatowel took less effort than attending to customers. Steve the manager was excellent when we politely gave our feedback.
I've had 2 visits to the Oak and Iron recently and I can't recommend it highly enough. The first occasion was for lunch and a movie. We arrived at 11.30am - before the main restaurant was open but it didn't matter - the light meals available in the cafe area were delicious and just filled the spot before our movie. We had the vegetable tart and it was AMAZING! We popped back for coffee and cake later. The cakes were superb and coffee was excellent. My husband and I returned for a movie and dinner last Saturday night and once again we could not fault the service or the food. Prices are very reasonable also. The staff are friendly and attentive and made us feel very welcome. Even though Mt Barker is a good hour's drive from home, it is well worth the trip. We'll definitely be making the trip more often.Thank you Oak and Iron for your hospitality!
We went before the re-brand and refurbishment (about 10 years ago) and the food wasn't great. We tried again last night and WOW! Great meal, excellent service and a reasonable price. Even the vego option was amazing. I had the T Burger in the Movie Meal deal and it was delicious. Only cost $29.90 with a Movie ticket! Well done for turning the business around. Funky chairs, good selection of cider and wines and very, very tasty food. Even the complementary bread was warm and tasted great. Our waiter was very good, made us feel welcome and not rushed. Food arrived promptly and beautifully cooked. Highly recommend.
